The following research investigates the experiences of nine alumni foster children who were interviewed regarding living in faith-based foster-care placements. The significance of the study is that there were distinct elements in the faith-based foster-care environment that were experienced by all those who formerly lived in such settings. A generic qualitative approach was implemented for this study, and data was processed vis-a-vis the utilization of thematic analysis techniques. The six themes that emerged were (a) religious emphasis; (b) extreme religious views; (c) religious and secular routines; (d) different placements relationally impacting participants; (e) participants' positive and negative emotions-which were influenced by personal, interpersonal, and environmental factors; and (f) perceived negative behaviors from caretakers. The results of the study emphasized the importance of faith-based caretakers' building quality relationships with foster-care children through caring and meaningful relationships, and meeting their physical and emotional needs prior to having conversations about faith with them. The implications and recommendations for future research, based on findings from this study, are discussed.
