I read the book "Sustainable Development and Creative Destruction - Economic Opportunities and Challenges in Eastern Europe" (edited by Ion Pohoaţă and Andreea-Oana Iacobută) with a real great interest. The Romanian researchers are well versed not only in the world of economic thought (you will find references to the classics, but also to contemporary theorists), but above all in economic history. The authors are well aware of the specifics of Eastern Europe and its systemic differences. Studying the individual chapters, I noticed many parallels between the cases described in the various countries of the former communist system. This work also has great interdisciplinary value. Not only economists, but also sociologists and social geographers can draw from it. Taking into account the specific characteristics of different countries within Eastern Europe, the contrast between economic theory and practice is highlighted.
