본 논문은 그리스도와 연합이 구원에 관한 성경적 가르침의 핵심이며 성도들의 삶의 변화를 이끄는 가장 중요한 요소임을 주장하여 이를 기반으로 하는 성경 공부 교재를 발간하는 데에 그 목적을 둔다. 현재 한국은 물론 미국에 있는 이민 교회들에서 점차 성도의 숫자가 줄어들고 세상에서 그리스도인들에 대한 인식이 점점 더 부정적으로 바뀌는 현상이다. 이는 그리스도인들의 삶이 이 세상에서 하나님 나라를 드러내지 못하고 세상과 별다른 차이를 보이지 못한다는것이 가장 큰 이유라고 생각하고 이 현상을 개선하는 일이 시급하다고 말할 수 있다. 성도들에게 있어서 예수 그리스도를 믿고 성령님을 받아 전혀 새로운 정체성을 가지고 가지는 삶, 즉 이전과는 완전하게 변화된 새 생명으로 사는 삶을 가르치는 일이 매우 중요해졌다고 생각한다. 그러므로 새 생명으로 사는 삶이 과연 어떠한 삶인지 그리고 그 삶의 모습은 구체적으로 어떤 모습인지 가르치는 교재를 작성하고자 한다. 제1장에서는 현재 기독교인들의 문제가 무엇인지 살펴보고, 그리스도인들의 삶이 왜 중요한지에 대하여, 그리고 목회자들이 그리스도인들의 삶의 변화를 위해 어떻게 하여야 하는지 알아보고 본 교재의 연구와 작성 방향에 대하여 설명하여 목회적 필요성에 대해 의견을 제시한다. 제2장에서는 그리스도와 연합에 관해 쓴 문헌들과 그리스도와 연합에 대한 성령님의 역사, 그리스도와 연합으로 인해 가지는 성화 그리고 하나님 나라와 그리스도와 연합으로 나타나는 새로운 삶에 대한 문헌들을 연구한다. 이 연구를 통하여 그리스도인들의 삶의 변화를 이끄는 두 가지 큰 사실, 즉 예수 그리스도를 믿고 성령님을 받으면 이제 그리스도와 연합이 된 존재가 되어 산다는 것과 하나님 나라 백성이 되어 이미 그리스도께서 이끄시는 성화의 삶을 산다는 정체성을 가져야만 그리스도인들이 그들의 삶을 변화시킬 수 있다는 연구 결과를 얻게 된다. 제3장에서는 그리스도와 연합이 새로운 새 생명의 삶을 살게 한다는 성경적, 신학적 토대를 마련하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 그리스도와 연합의 정의와 이해를 위해 성경에 근거한 그리스도와 연합 논리와 연합의 특징을 먼저 전개하고 그리스도와 연합과 성화와의 관계, 그리고 그리스도와 연합으로 나타나는 새 생명의 삶이 어떤 삶인지 구체적으로 제시하는 논리를 전개하였다. 제4장에서는 그리스도와 연합으로 인해 새로운 삶을 살게 하는 성경 공부 교재에 대한 출판 계획을 제시한다. 이 교재는 이제 막 그리스도를 믿는 초신자들과 그동안 신앙생활 속에서 삶이 변하지 않아 갈등하는 교인들 그리고 그 모습을 안타깝게 여기며 바라보는 교회 지도자들과 목회자들에게 유용한 교재가 되기를 소망한다. 그리고 이 교재의 잠정 목차와 내용을 소개한다. 제5장에서는 총 4권으로 이루어진 성경 공부 교재의 책 표본을 제시한다.

This dissertation's purpose is to publish a Bible study guidebook based on the union with Christ as the core teaching of the biblical Soteriology and the most important element in leading the church members to transformative life.In Korea, as well as in the US, the church is losing her members and credibility from society. The biggest reason for such phenomenon is that Christians fail to show their distinctiveness from the secular world and or to reflect the Kingdom of God in their lives. It is most urgent duty for Christians to change the current situation.For making this change happen it becomes even more important to teach Christians that they have a totally new identity and transformed new life in Christ through the Holy Spirit. The writer's project is to write a study guide to teach what kind of life is this new life in Christ in detail.In the first chapter, the ministry needs and the scope of work of this dissertation are suggested as follows: the problems of the contemporary Christians are depicted to explain why Christians must live out their faith. What, then, would pastors need to do in helping their members to make transforming life is suggested. In the second chapter, literature survey has been conducted in the field of the union with Christ, the Holy Spirit's ministry in the union with Christ, sanctification in result of the union with Christ, the Kingdom of God and the union with Christ manifested in the transforming life. The survey concludes in two points: first, when one believes in Jesus Christ and received the Holy Spirit, he or she now becomes a being in union with Christ; second, one must hold on to his or her new identity in union with Christ in order to live a transforming life.In the third chapter, biblical and theological foundation is presented for the union with Christ which makes Christians to live a transforming life. First, the biblical and theological concept and characteristics of the union with Christ are studied, followed by the relationship between the union with Christ and sanctification. Then, what would be the transforming life in result of the union with Christ look like are explained in detail.In the fourth chapter, a publication plan has been presented . This study guidebook aims to be a profitable resource for the following readers: new believers, existing believers who have inner conflicts due to not yielding a transforming life in their life, church leaders and pastors whose job is to help church members to live a transforming life. In the fifth chapter, the publication manuscript is presented. The study guide is consisted of four books: the first book contains the definition and understanding of the union with Christ; the second book explains the new life in the union with Christ in the context of individual believers; the third book explains the new life in the union with Christ in the context of the church community; and the fourth book explains the new life in the union with Christ in the context of the secular world.
