動物寓言為寓言中典型的類型，其以動物諷喻人事的筆法，往往為古今中外的文學作品所用，而目前動物寓言的研究多至明代，因此以《聊齋誌異》一書作為窺探清代動物寓言的開端，本論文內容架構如下：第一章說明研究目的與動機，以並確立「動物寓言」的定義與研究範疇。第二章說明蒲松齡自身之身世，分述其生平、成書意旨、孤憤意識、以及其生命經歷中的重要人物或事件，藉以分析其與動物寓言的主要篇章背後所蘊含的價值觀相合之處。第三章以歷來筆記體、志怪小說、動物寓言的發展脈絡，梳理《聊齋誌異》所受筆記體體例、志怪小說中取材內容的影響，並探討歷代典籍及文人作品如何寄予動物重要概念，而這些概念往往延續到清代，為蒲松齡在《聊齋誌異》中所用。第四章分析《聊齋誌異》中的動物類型及其動物形象，藉以從動物本身在文本表層所顯現的形象理解蒲松齡如何形塑這些動物在故事中的行事態度、作為。第五章則依據這些動物的形象、作為，來探究這些寓言藉由動物的故事，是如何傳達其表層寓意，這些寓意或直接藉由人在行為後的結果來傳達，或藉由動物的結果來寄寓人類本身的行為，然而這些表層寓意背後所指涉的，或對於官場黑暗的控訴與否定，或藉以勸戒世人、勸人為善，而這些不論是藉由人或動物所表達的寓意，實際上都是為了表達對於人世間美善價值觀的追求與肯定。第六章則統整全文，並略為說明《聊齋誌異》動物寓言研究在清代動物寓言研究的開展性。

520 $a The animal fable is a typical type of fable. It uses animals to satirize people and things, and it is often used in ancient and modern Chinese and foreign literary works. At present, the research on animal fables dates back to the Ming Dynasty.
