The interest in ethical leadership has significantly increased in the last few decades due to lapses in judgment in the corporate and political arena. Managers and scholars are paying more attention to the ethics of leaders, as well as the displayed behaviors of the employees. This study examined the relationship between ethical leadership and organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB). This research addressed a gap in the literature to determine if trust influences the ethical leadership and OCB relationship. Using the social learning theory as a theoretical framework, this study used a quantitative, nonexperimental, explanatory design to examine the extent by which trust moderates the relationship between ethical leadership and OCB. The primary research question addressed by the study is: To what extent does trust moderate the relationship between ethical leadership and organizational citizenship behaviors? The sample for this study was comprised of 188 employed nonmanagers in the United States. Data were collected for this study using the Trust in Manager Scale, the Ethical Leadership Scale, and the OCB Scale. Data were analyzed using moderated multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicated that ethical leadership explains OCB, and trust influences ethical leadership. In addition, the results indicated that trust statistically significantly moderates the relationship between ethical leadership and OCB.
