The purpose of this qualitative case study was to determine how coaches perceived learning styles and the implications they could have on individual and team development. This case study analyzed participants who were high school football coaches in southwest Ohio. In addition to understanding the perspectives and value of learning styles in individual and team development, the researcher assisted in identifying what further resources and needs of coaches to begin further implementation. The theoretical foundations of this study included research studies based around perspectives of learning styles, as well as those learning style models grounded in the Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic Model (VAK), Kolb's Learning Style, Dunn and Dunn's Learning Style Model, and Curry's Onion Model. The research questions derived for this study were: (1) How do coaches view understanding and incorporating learning styles to improve the overall individual development? And (2) How do coaches view understanding and incorporating learning styles to improve the overall team development? The sample comprised of high school football coaches in southwest Ohio. Data collection was made up of a pre-questionnaire as well as an individual and focus group interview questions. Data was analyzed using pattern/theme analysis, coding, and bracketing; all being culminated under triangulation. Important findings from this study revealed coaches have a high value of learning styles but limited understanding in the multitude of models as well as strategies and techniques to implement on a team level. Participants found high value when implementation is done on an individual level.
