This qualitative narrative study sought to answer what factors influence destination for study abroad by students of color. Five females, four males, and one non-binary participant representing current and past students of color at a mid-sized four-year university in Wisconsin who had studied abroad and were signed up to study abroad were interviewed. The study was grounded in Yuan and McDonald's Push-Pull Theory that was expanded and illustrated by Keating and Kriz. The study concluded that several factors influenced students of color study abroad destination choice including personal finances, social network, the desire to experience a new culture, language, and study abroad outreach media.
