This dissertation argues for one comprehensive thematic-theological motif that controls, informs, and provides coherence to the whole composition of the final inerrant form of Proverbs. Many post-Enlightenment scholars, evangelical and otherwise, suggest a topical/randomized interpretation for Proverbs because of its apparent structural disunity. However, these offerings prove suboptimal when examined on theological, lexical, discourse analytical, and biblical theological grounds. I propose God deployed the two ways motif, comprised of a constellation of terms that conspire together assisting the reader by providing a compositional north star-leitwort-that functions like a lynchpin delivering literary and theological unity for the whole book.
