Thesis (Ph.D.)--Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2022.

This dissertation answers the following question: How does Scripture's theological theme of Sabbath progress across the biblical canon and climax in Christ? The question is answered in two parts. Part One provides a historical overview of interpretation, synthesizing the findings into five main Sabbath views and creating a paradigm for interpretation. Part Two offers a biblical theology revealing the Sabbath's origin and purpose in the Law, progression through the narrative and commentary of the Old Testament, and culmination in Jesus. This work reveals the Sabbath as a key to understanding how the entire Bible progresses, integrates, and climaxes in Christ.
