The risk, rumble, and crashes associated with dissonance, or the suspension and resolution of the irregular interval, is a concept that has been explored not only in musical culture but also in terms of communication that we share with all the entities in our surroundings. Parallel to music, we listen and reply in many ways, in our thoughts, language, behavior, and beliefs. Throughout history, there is evidence of an inclination toward harmony and the tendency to want to structure chaotic elements. In contrast, dissonance is often viewed as the wrong kind of tumult or disarray, given its random or unsteady nature. However, ways of editing, arranging, and knowing these chaotic elements can significantly affect if used carefully. As Barry Harris said, maybe it is better to throw a little "wrong" in your art to make it right. However, is it possible that there truly is a right answer to this? This study aims to discover a more explicit or accessible way to interpret and navigate inconsistencies and "wrongness" in the creation of meaning. I look at the arrangement and editing of questions, and the balance between spontaneous execution and constructive consideration, to consider dissonance in the field of communication design. In researching cultural perceptions on the topic, I have learned that there is a long history of embracing dissonance to evolve new structures and deconstruct conventional forms. This study will dismantle binary oppositions as it relates to perceiving and interpreting, order and chaos, dynamic and stillness, opening and closing to explore the space between.
