My MFA thesis will explore the relationship between art and design. There is an inseparable relationship between these two disciplines, but at the same time, they have different purposes. Simply speaking, art is an expression of self-consciousness. Whether the viewer understands it or not, appreciates it or not, does not affect the outcome. Design is different. Design responses to human needs, people have different interactions and unique visions and experiences with design. I believe design is a balance between function and artistry, and I am very interested in finding this point accurately. How to combine function with art and use it in design is something I have been thinking about recently.
