Poland and Chopin are two concepts that cannot be separated, for they form an entity of their own. However, the story of both subjects has often been manufactured to offer a view of the patriotism and the connection of Chopin with his country, which promoted the creation of the nation. At the same time, the circumstances that propitiated the rise of nationalism and the social unrest that ended with World War I were the same that promoted the myth of Chopin. Therefore, this research is focused on the analysis of the facts and the context that created the myth of Chopin and how their manipulation throughout scholarship played an important part in the independence of Poland in 1918.
