Reproductive management is an important key for profit in the dairy industry. Digital agriculture is offering more opportunities to increase production, minimize labor and reduce the cost. In this work, I designed and developed e-synch, an automated intravaginal device for estrus synchronization and intravaginal environment monitoring within an IoT platform to facilitate the protocol implementation in dairy farms. This work includes (1) the design of e-synch, an automatic drug delivery device and its IoT platform for estrus synchronization, (2) in vivo study of the effectiveness of progesterone instillation using e-synch, and (3) in vivo study of the optimal dose of GnRH and the investigating sensing information. In the biomedical domain, I investigated aflatoxin exposure monitoring. Aflatoxins are toxins widely found in crops, which accumulate in the final food product through the general food supply. Exposure to aflatoxins can increase the risk of liver cancer, and impairment of childhood growth, and may lead to death. In this work, I developed a platform for Aflatoxin M1 preconcentration and detection. This work includes: (1) preconcentrating Aflatoxin M1 at ultra-low concentration using isotachophoresis technique on nitrocellulose paper and (2) detection using lateral flow assay.
