This qualitative research study explored the experiences of bonding among Afro-Caribbean millennial fathers and their children. The study can offer data that are informative to developmental psychology for it depicts fathers' experiences related to bonding. A generic qualitative inquiry design was used to extract these accounts to answer the research question "How do Afro-Caribbean fathers describe bonding with their child during the first 5 years of the child's life? The purpose of this research was to help close the gap in the qualitative research on a father's experience with bonding. The sample included eight millennial Afro- Caribbean fathers between the ages of 26 and 41 with least one biological child between the ages of 5 and 9 who was born and currently lived in Trinidad and Tobago. Through the use of thematic analysis of the data, the study identified 13 patterns that supported the research finding's seven themes: (a) spending time, (b) open communication, (c) listening to the children, (d) discipline, (e) teaching the children, (f) providing guidance, and (g) traditional practices. The research findings suggest that these millennial fathers used their own experiences while growing up to merge some traditional practices that did not represent the practices of bonding that they desired for their children to experience. The data identified that their experiences of bonding were the culmination of behaviors and practices that aided the fathers in forming a healthy attachment with their children that allowed for continued child development as those children move through milestones that lead to adulthood.
