The migration of Haitians to the United States has increased in the last decade due to natural disasters, political instability, and an impoverished economy (Schulz & Batalova, 2017). This has resulted in the United States becoming home to the largest Haitian migrant population, with almost 700,000 Haitian immigrants in the United States (Schulz & Batalova, 2017). This study explored the perspectives of Haitian parents who migrate to the USA with or without their children in the Boston, Massachusetts area to determine their strategies for acculturation and the impact of these strategies on their children. The goal of this study was to gain insight into Haitian families' perspectives on immigration and acculturation using qualitative interpretive phenomenological analysis. Five Haitian immigrants participated in this study and results from the study revealed five major themes: Haitian immigrants face substantial challenges, pride in Haitian identity, acculturation into American society, immigration as an opportunity to give children a better life, and Haitian immigrants attempting to preserve their identity.
