The Morris Canal was a meaningful way of transportation in New Jersey during the early 1800s, which led to a new gate for the state's economy. This thesis investigated the history of the Morris Canal, its importance, and its impact on Jersey City. This research has the purpose of educating the reader on the history of this elaborate topic. This then opens the gate for the proposal of creating social nodes that reinforce the Morris Canal Greenway Plan that the city and different collaborations planned. This thesis includes the demography analysis of the Jersey City communities that informs on selecting the possible space to benefit from creating social nodes. The design proposal consists of developing three nodes with the design of different interactive elements where the community can get involved, learn, and socialize with each other. Through the research, many of the different materials that could be used to develop the node sites were discovered.
