The problem of practice focused on international students and their vital importance to U.S. colleges and universities. The purpose of this action research study was to discover and develop a way to better support international students at Sandy University, a large private higher education institution in the Northeast, allowing them to succeed in their educational journey and achieve their goals. The Cycle 1 data collection process consisted of 18 interviews, including 17 interviews with international students and one interview with a faculty member at Sandy University. The themes generated from the research include the current resources available for international students, the challenges that international students experience, and the transition process as a whole. The findings reiterated that although resources currently exist at Sandy University, additional support was required for international students to better adapt to living and studying in the United States, easing their transition and ensuring that international students remain until graduation and beyond. Cycle 2 data collection was determined based on the information that was collected and analyzed during the Cycle 1 data collection process. This resulted in a more specific focus where I analyzed and reflected on the results of the Cycle 1 data collection process, where it was determined that resources do exist at Sandy University; however, international students were finding it difficult to learn and access these resources. As a result of Cycle 1 findings, Cycle 2 focused on a way to better support international students by connecting them to the proper resources by utilizing an individual who was experienced and who had gone through a similar process with the implementation of an international student mentorship program. The evaluation of Cycle 2 identified the effectiveness of a mentorship program consisting of international students and international student alum from the same institution, which determined a possible solution to the problem under study.
