This dissertation examines the existence of "White-Collar Colonialism" in multinational companies and organizations in Jakarta, Indonesia. This study posits that neo-colonialism continues through a phenomenon that I call, "White-Collar Colonialism." This term refers to the subtle colonial oppression conducted by international employees toward native employees whether through institutional policies or interpersonal dynamics in a transnational context. Despite this problem, currently there is a gap in the research that looks into this particular area. As such, the purpose of this study is to investigate the notion, "White-Collar Colonialism" to gain a better understanding of the phenomenon.Using the qualitative method, I analyzed 12 interview transcripts of Indonesian executives who worked at multinational companies and organizations in Jakarta, Indonesia. In addition, I analyzed my own autoethnographic experiences as a consultant spanning 17 years. Lastly, I used additional data available from the public domain. The results of the study indicated partial alignment between the notion of "White-Collar Colonialism" and the data provided by the participants. The main limitations of the study was that because I was seeking to establish a new term, the boundaries and definitions of this term was still in its early developmental stages. As such, further research would be needed. I created a rubric to gain better clarity, but this construct would require further improvement. In conclusion, the study contributed the following things: 1. The term, "White-Collar Colonialism" into the conversation on neo-colonialism. 2. An initial rubric on "White-Collar Colonialism." 3. Strategic decolonization methods in response to "White-Collar Colonialism" in Jakarta, Indonesia. 4. A list of key tasks facing Indonesia as a nation and as a people in relation to "White-Collar Colonialism." 5. The definition of the liberated individual and its relation to "White-Collar Colonialism.".
