This dissertation focuses on the development of a training curriculum for American Evangelical Keralite women who have experienced intimate partner abuse (IPA), as there are currently no resources or programs tailored for women in this particular group. Previous research indicates a lack of awareness among American Evangelical Keralites, their pastors, community leaders, and members regarding IPA, as well as crisis prevention/intervention. In addition, the silence among American Evangelical churches regarding IPA has left survivors unsupported in toxic environments, feeling unheard and suffering alone. Church communities play a crucial role in survivor help-seeking efforts through IPA prevention, intervention, and education. Current needs include finding new ways to support IPA women, strategies to support those who choose to stay, addressing the spiritual struggle in the decision-making process for IPA women, raising IPA awareness, providing culturally appropriate resources, and lastly, providing pastoral, family, and community psychoeducation. Pastors, church, and community leaders may implement this 6-module training curriculum within faith-based settings for women and women's groups. Topics include: crisis, abuse, the spiritual struggle, support systems, prevention/intervention resources, and long-term abuse recovery. Suggestions for future research, development, and adaptations to the training curriculum are provided.
