Modern pastors commonly encounter personal and vocational stresses in their personal lives and ministries. In his writings, pastor, professor, and author Eugene H. Peterson offered a diagnosis of these modern issues and suggested what he believed to be their solutions. This dissertation surveys and summarizes the problems and solutions as Peterson saw them. Specific attention is given to the controversy that surrounded Peterson just before his death with the issue of his Evangelical identity being at the center. While some Evangelical leaders have questioned Peterson's Evangelical commitment, this dissertation defends his identity as both an Evangelical Christian and leader.
