The purpose of this causal-comparative study was to determine if the pre-test and post-test scores differed for learners who used four hours of traditional test preparation and for learners who used four hours of Game enhanced test preparation, and if there was a difference on mean post-test scores between test preparation types, and the post-test scores for the two groups after they have completed four hours of test preparation in an aviation maintenance course in the southwestern United States. Based on Kolb's experiential theory and Shapely and Nash's theory, this study used pre-and post-course test-scores to evaluate the differences among and between two types of test preparation. The study's sample size was n = 69 learners. This study used an FAA industry-standard 75 multiple-choice question test to evaluate learners' scores. Comparison of pre-test to post-test scores revealed that the mean for post-test scores was higher for game-based learners, M = 68.51, than it was for learners using traditional test preparation, M = 49.16. Comparison of post-test scores between the two types of test preparation showed results for learners using Game enhanced test preparation was M = 68.51, SD = 7.952, and traditional learners was M = 49.16, SD = 4.420. There was a statistically significant difference between means (p = .000, p < .05). To summarize, the findings showed that the scores for learners using Game enhanced test preparation were higher than for learners using traditional test preparation.
