The problem was that career center specialists lacked the understanding of how employment organizational culture influences the work-life balance among under-supported employees (Teti & Andriotto, 2013). The purpose of this qualitative narrative design study was to explore the life stories of under-supported employees in improving career center specialists' understanding of how organizational culture influences work-life balance, welfare, and job satisfaction. The one primary research question and three sub-questions guided this study: RQ1: What are the life stories of under-supported employees who visited and sought assistance from career center specialists?; SQ1: What kinds of lived experiences have led under-supported employees to seek out services from career center specialists?; SQ2: What do these under-supported employees' stories reveal about the practice of the career center specialists? SQ3: What can the career center specialists learn from the under-supported employees' stories in order to improve their services? Ten participants were interviewed. The results showed seven significant emergent themes for employed participants: (1) Work experience, (2) management, (3) job satisfaction, (4) time off, (5) health, (6) work-life balance, and (7) advertisement. Seven significant emergent themes from the unemployed participants were: (1) work experience, (2) management, (3) job satisfaction, (4) work-life balance, (5) health-related issues, (6) acknowledgment, and (7) support. Recommendations for educational leaders and for future research were discussed.
