Residential construction lags behind other industries in innovative technology integration. The selection process for a new home purchase can intimidate those unfamiliar with design communication. Are there technological innovations that empower these potential homebuyers to purchase a new home? Could this technology benefit further by improving customer satisfaction? Enhanced design communication is the solution by streamlining virtual reality (VR) for client selections. Communication improvements affect construction resulting in higher customer satisfaction. VR is the first step in new technological integrations in residential construction processes to improve the industry. However, the perceptions of homebuilders' integration of this technology are vital; therefore, this research's focus is on builders' existing perceptions of VR in residential preconstruction services. Using Delphi methodology, current homebuilder perceptions will undergo challenges with demonstrated improvements in VR use in design communication. This research is a first step in integrating technological innovations to improve the home buying process.
