The near-zero sound emission nature of electric vehicles induces a potential risk to road users like pedestrians with visual or auditory disability who rely heavily on auditory information around them to identify and avoid obstacles. This thesis aims at providing automotive manufacturers with various external alerting sounds for their electric vehicles. The sounds presented in this research have been produced after thoroughly investigating and identifying methodologies for developing effective alerting sound while abiding by the electric vehicle sound regulations set forth by the American and European governments.
