Grammar is an important part of language learning. Teaching grammar is undoubtedly a necessary foundation of achieving accuracy and fluency of the language (Ellis, 2006). However, although Chinese EFL teachers spend much time and effort on it, the effect is not as obvious as expected. Students make the same grammatical mistakes repeatedly and also lose interest in grammar lessons because they are stressed and bored by the traditional teaching methods. By analyzing the common grammatical errors made by Chinese students, teachers can find out the specific difficulties students are challenged with due to the influence of their native language. Teachers should focus on these difficulties during teaching and also adopt suitable teaching methods and activities to make grammar lessons more effective and fun.
