I examine the cross-sectional variation in the Firm Value (FV) of changes in Cash and Cash Holdings in three differentiated markets: U.S., U.K. and Brazil. Market differentiation is broadly considered from the perspectives of market characteristics and governance. The Faulkender and Wang (F&W) model, using excess equity market return as a proxy for FV, is used in the analysis given the robust theoretical foundation and wide scholarly acceptance. Tobin's q is introduced and analyzed as a viable alternative proxy for FV using a modified F&W model formulation. The cross-country datasets are for the period 2006 to 2019. The sample comprises approximately 9943 firm-year observations. I contribute to the existing literature on the FV of Cash by testing the generalizability of the original F&W model using more current data, and by introducing the different perspective of Tobin's q to the analysis of FV in three distinctly different markets.
