This thesis aims to internalize the streetscape to create equitable spaces that promote communal life. The activities and the community culture shaped by neighborhood blocks will infiltrate the private spaces of derelict brownstones. These once private spaces will be restored into independent cultural centers, creating a network that brings community members together by absorbing the activities found outside of them. This network of brownstones will preserve the shared cultural identity of Bedford-Stuyvesant and restore the resident's sense of place. This thesis seeks to reinterpret how one navigates, occupies and interacts within these historical spaces by creating a dynamic relationship between the exterior and interior. Architecture is encoded with the idea of ownership and property and the network of Brownstones transfers power and ownership back to original community members, reflecting the values and identity of those who occupy the neighborhood blocks.
