The study examined information-seeking and information-sharing about depression and anxiety on social media. A cross-sectional online survey (N = 865) was conducted to determine whether depression ratings, anxiety ratings, perceived health-related social media peer support, and perceived health benefits of social media influenced individual information-seeking and -sharing about mental health on social media. Results of hierarchical multiple regression models showed depression, anxiety, perceived peer support, and perceived health benefits as predictors of information-seeking and -sharing. As individual-level predictors, only depression, anxiety, and perceived health benefits showed a significant positive association with information-seeking, while depression, anxiety, perceived peer support, and perceived health-benefits indicated a significant positive association with information-sharing. Additionally, regression models showed an interaction effect of both depression and anxiety and perceived health-related social media peer support on information-sharing behavior; however, an interaction was observed only for anxiety and perceived peer support on this behavior. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.
