The purpose of this dissertation was to analyze, through the use of a mixed-methods study, the relationship between teacher leadership styles and instructional strategies. A focus group met to determine which instructional strategies would be included in this study. Additionally, once those strategies were identified, an online survey consisting of an instructional strategy frequency scale and the Multi-Factor Leadership 5X survey was completed by eighty-seven participants. Interviews from participants with varying leadership styles were completed to provide additional information regarding the usage of instructional strategies in the classroom. Analysis of the data did not indicate a significant relationship between teacher leadership styles and utilized instructional strategies; however, interesting patterns were shown. The results of this study were used to create an implementation plan for educators to better understand how their leadership styles affect their teaching practices. Recommendations for future research include a suggestion to conduct additional studies in diverse locations and studies on how students respond to various teacher leadership styles.
