This study employed a mixed-method design with two phases: the first phase (qualitative) was intended to help develop or inform the second phase (quantitative). This study has reflected on the importance of prevention and the application of a prevention framework that can help families, communities, and nations to better be prepared for national crises. The study investigated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on disadvantaged families, families' factors of resiliency, and implications for family-based prevention programs. Finally, the study also explored the effect of the influential factors of stress and lived experiences among disadvantaged families during this traumatic event and their resilience building as a means of coping, sustainability, and survival measures.
