The current research investigates trust as a driver of public cloud adoption using the TAM theoretical framework. The research questions examine the impact of institutional trust, trust in the public cloud provider, perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness on participant's intention to adopt and use public cloud computing. The primary research question addressed is: "To what extent do institutional trust in public cloud computing, trust in public cloud computing service providers, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use impact experienced IT professionals' use of public cloud computing?" The study is quantitative, nonexperimental, and correlational. IT professionals in the United States were the population of focus for the study. The data analysis consisted of a hierarchical linear regression and an analysis of the moderating impact of the two trust variables. The data analysis suggested that IT professionals in the United States are significantly impacted by perceived usefulness and trust in the public cloud provider when determining whether to adopt public cloud computing. The disparate findings for the trust variables indicate that research on trust should be multidimensional or researchers should be purposeful regarding the aspects of trust used. As a novel study, many opportunities for future research based upon the findings exist.
