People are increasingly concerned about the climate change resulting from emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs), especially CO2. Under the Paris Agreement, nations collectively agreed to keep warming "well under 2.0 °C" through various mitigation efforts. This work was designed to meet the mission via two approaches. The first one was to use coal for the fabrication of the carbon nanofibers (CNFs), while the second one was to capture the CO2 emitted from fossil fuel combustions. During this research, not only experiments but also theoretical studies were performed. The factors affecting the development of the two technologies were studied, and the associated processes were optimized. The results achieved with the research on the novel carbon emission reduction technologies are promising. The success of the study is beneficial to both environmental protection and sustainable utilization of fossil resources.
