The purpose of this study was to determine to what extent the number of additional hours of suicide response training teachers receive impacts their level of self-efficacy in assessing and intervening with suicidal students. Questions from two of the four subscales of the Counselor Suicide Assessment Efficacy Survey (CSAES) developed by Douglas & Morris (2015) were used to survey teachers in a selected area of southeastern Louisiana. The survey yielded 186 responses, of which 178 were appropriate for use in the dataset. Results indicated that teachers who participated in additional hours of suicide response training, above the mandated two hours, had higher levels of self-efficacy in the general assessment of a suicidal student, as evidenced by a p value of .002. Keywords: adolescents, suicide, teachers, suicide response training, self-efficacy.
