The Lord desires parents to lead their children in his ways by teaching and equipping them to love and serve him. Parents should not only provide for their children with material possessions but oversee their spiritual wellbeing. Because of these realities, the local church should not serve as the primary source of spiritual engagement, but support and equip parents to be the primary disciple-makers in the lives of their children.New Friendship Baptist Church has a thriving children and student ministry. Through existing programs, NFBC ministers to a variety of children and students on a weekly basis. The local church loves and engages children and students.Yet, one element is missing at NFBC-supporting and equipping parents to serve as the primary disciple-makers in the lives of their children. Because of this missing element, this ministry project was designed to create a strategy for NFBC to support parents in raising their children with a Christian perspective. The project director studied three biblical texts: Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Ephesians 6:4, and Matthew 28:18-20, to set the theological foundations for the project. From the foundations, the project director developed ministry and professional objectives to complete by researching the fields of Christian parenting, educational instruction, and strategy development. The final outcome of the ministry project is a written strategy for NFBC to implement after the completion of this ministry project. The final strategy titled, Foundations: A Christ-Centered Parenting Journey, includes a sixteen-session biblical instructional outline for either in-person utilization or online engagement; a format to follow in modeling a relationship to the Lord to children, and a framework of creating opportunities to turn a child's attention towards the Lord, through discipleship time, moments, and milestones. The new strategy will be made available to the church through the creation of a web-based app for easy access. The strategy will be launched through a sermon series, led by the church's senior pastor.
