Feeling ashamed is a universal humanuniverse living experience. From the humanbecoming perspective, all individuals from moment to moment may explicitly or tacitly choose to experience feeling ashamed. As feeling ashamed is a prevalent and universal experience, discovering newknowings in this area holds significance for nursing science. The purposes of this inquiry were to (a) discover the discerning extant moment of feeling ashamed, (b) enhance understanding of the universal humanuniverse living experience of feeling ashamed from a humanbecoming perspective, (c) contribute new knowledge to the discipline of nursing, and (d) guide future research. The scholar engaged in Parsesciencing, a mode of inquiry unique to the humanbecoming paradigm. The inquiry stance was: What is the discerning extant moment of the universal humanuniverse living experience of feeling ashamed? Historians were 10 individuals from a rural community in upstate New York. The major discovery of this Parsesciencing inquiry was the discerning extant moment: Feeling ashamed is penetrating encumbrance with oppressive disquietude emerging with diverse affiliations. The newknowings arising from this investigation of feeling ashamed contributed to knowledge of the humanbecoming paradigm, the discipline of nursing, and beyond.
