Arrays of wind turbines spread over a vast area of land makes a wind farm, and wind energy is becoming the most popular renewable energy source. Wind farms have layouts, and their layouts vary in different locations, however there is no comprehensive understanding of the changes of wind farms' layouts. In this study, Geographic Information System was utilized to evaluate 11,559 wind turbines installed in Texas from 2010 to 2019. Geospatial and temporal data analyses were performed with data gathered from different databases to obtain the outlines of wind farms and to understand the various patterns that affect them. The findings of the geospatial research were investigated further using a numerical analysis. With the use of Geographic Information Systems-based tools, different changes of the wind farms were compared and assessed including the maximum count of wind turbines in a wind farm by year, the number of total wind farms installed every year, the total area of a wind farm, wind turbine nameplate capacity, wind turbine hub height, and wind turbine rotor diameter. To recognize different wind speed categories at different locations, wind speed data was included in the analysis. The results showed that the number of new wind turbines and wind farms built every year do not have an obvious trend, but the hub height and rotor diameter show an increasing trend every year.
