The following directed project is a music and physical activity curriculum for older adults who attend an adult day center or reside in a residential care facility, memory care unit or are aging in place. The developer provides background information on the benefits of physical activity and music for older adults and explains why a music and physical activity curriculum is necessary for older adults' physical and social well-being. The author reviews recent research pertaining to the cognitive and social benefits of physical activity, the cognitive and social benefits of music and the benefits of combining music and physical activity. The developer presents a detailed breakdown of the curriculum content followed by the results from the expert panelists' feedback questionnaire. The developer also indicates the revisions in the curriculum based on the feedback questionnaire. Finally, the developer reiterates the necessity for a music and physical activity curriculum based on the research and social comparison theory and a recommendation for future research.
