The format of this dissertation is one that is addressed through three distinct, but interconnected articles aimed at studying the research hypotheses previously presented. The first (Chapter 2) of this three-article dissertation (TAD) focuses on recent research into frequency-based RT programs in trained males, presented in a critically appraised topic. The second article (Chapter 3) quantitatively considers differing RT protocols based on the frequency of sessions per week employed during a collegiate football off-season training program. Finally, the third article (Chapter 4) examines the longitudinal effects of the differing training protocols examined in the second article. The longitudinal study considers the incidence of injuries, practice/game availability, and, through a survey, the individuals' readiness (mentally and physically) for competition post-training intervention.
