Many discussions surrounding bullying behavior have now found that this behavior has escalated to an unsettling level of violence. The viciousness has given concern surrounding child safety in schools domestically and internationally. The negative behaviors go against the normal expectations of how one should behave in a society. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study is to assess the lived experiences of educators concerning bullying behavior and the escalation of violent behaviors of students in Mecklenburg county schools. The research aimed to explore the lived experience of this phenomenon relevant to the continued escalation of violent behavior. As a retired educator of Mecklenburg county, charlotte, NC's largest school district, I have observed the rise in dangerous levels of hostile behavior involving students from Elementary through High School. Utilizing qualitative research allowed me to focus, expound, as well as discover the lived experiences of front-line employees relevant to bullying and violent student behavior in their own words. Using this method, the researcher evaluated the context of understanding social development which allowed the researcher to prove or disprove theories regarding this specific area to justify the behavior. The study's results stemmed from the selected population's interviews surrounding the research questions, collected data from related literature, and qualified educational and local and state government web sites. The collected data from participants' interviews were assembled revealing experiences of the selected population were traumatizing due to violent events. Additionally, this affected their job performance due to additional stressors of violent situations they had experienced or witnessed on school grounds, school buses, or in the classroom.
