The purpose of this project was to expand music education for early childhood classrooms through the creation of a listening station curriculum that would allow children to independently explore a variety of music genres. The finished product includes materials for the listening station and the lesson write up with instructions on how to introduce the listening station into a classroom. The finished product also includes an online website-based resource. The online resource was developed to meet the need of helping caregivers and teachers of young children implement more music activities through having easier access to music resources. While listening to music is beneficial and in line with goals of Montessori and music education, making music and moving to music has also been found to be beneficial. The product aims to support all of these facets of music education to maximize the beneficial impact of music on early childhood students.
