This dissertation explores the experience of athletes in skydiving and BASE and how social media influence this community in conjunction with injuries. To fully understand, in this investigation, personal camera usage, safety training, and factors contributing to injuries were considered. It was discovered that there was a gap in the current research regarding extreme sports and social media usage. It was found that participants thought the safety training in the sport was adequate, although there could be improvement, most athletes used social media to keep connected to the sport, and most athletes thought complacency and progressing too quickly were responsible for injuries overall. There was not enough evidence to connect the rate of injuries with social media use. The implications of this study could be utilized across other extreme sports.
