Sport subsidies have been studied in great depth. Likewise, the social impact of sporting events, both mega and non-mega in size, has been studied exhaustively. This study, determining the social impact of professional sport subsidies, is unparalleled.Subsidies have become the funding source of choice for sport organizations and local governments to raise funds to renovate existing stadia or build new ones. It is commonplace for local governments to approve such a subsidy often referred to as a no-vote subsidy or referendum, where local citizens are deprived of the opportunity to vote on the levying of taxes. These taxes are levied on various food items, tobacco, alcohol, hotels, public transportation, and tourist attractions.Through the study of the social impact of sporting events, three theories emerged in the development of a social impact scale. To measure the social impact of a professional sport subsidy, this paper observed the three theories, The Social Exchange Theory, The Community Attachment Theory, and The Social Identity Theory. A scale commonly utilized is the Social Impact of Sport Scale and this paper modified that scale. Therefore, this paper seeks to answer the gap in knowledge, to what level is there a social impact as a resultant of a professional sport subsidy. This paper also modified the Social Impact of Sport Scale SISS to measure the impact of a professional sport subsidy. It is concluded that in most cases, the presence of a professional sport organization impacts the local community's decision to engage in sport participation and promotes an honest and trustworthy community.
