This thesis project was conducted to examine ways to bridge the gap between the goal of a supportive, interactive and effective learning process and the reality of learning English in Saudi Arabia at the university level. Specifically, I will examine the contribution of tutors and a tutoring center to the development of English skills of students who are learning English as a second language at Jazan University in Saudi Arabia. Iwillanswerthe following research questions:1. What is the best way to support EFL students as they learn English?2. How can tutors be used effectively in EFL classrooms?
