Previous research suggests the transition to college often negatively impacts students' wellbeing and prior exposure to various elements of collegiate life may reduce these effects. Current literature is limited in the scope of college exposure factors explored. To date, no scale has been created to measure a student's level of prior exposure to college. This study aimed to explore the relationship between prior exposure to college and adjustment. Participants completed an online survey including the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ) and a college exposure scale created for the purposes of this study. A total of 107 second-semester first-year college students were included in the analyses. Results revealed a positive relationship between elements of exposure and elements of adjustment. Future research is required to investigate if a causal relationship exists. Implementing programs at universities and high schools to increase students' college exposure may lead to increased rates of college adjustment.
