This Thesis presents a novel hybrid spacesuit architecture concept to enable planetary exploration by combining mechanical counterpressure (MCP) with gas-pressurization (GP). This conceptual design has the potential to offer a quantifiable increase in mobility, increases in safety through pressure layer redundancy, and decreased pre-breathe time to improve operational efficiency.The Thesis performs an engineering study on the concept. First, to assess the feasibility and benefit of implementing two separate pressure layers in the spacesuit, a trade analysis of the design space was performed by numerically modelling different spacesuit-related parameters. The analysis is done considering the combined system performance across different levels of total pressure and the degree of contribution of each system (MCP-GP). Then, the GP layer of the Hybrid Spacesuit concept is evaluated by testing the dexterity capabilities of gas-pressurized elements not intended for space use. Finally, the Thesis proceeds to develop relevant tools that can help on the development of MCP spacegloves, intended to be integrated into the Hybrid Spacesuit. These tools provide a baseline from which continue iterating in Hybrid Spacesuit MCPlayer architectures. It is concluded that the Thesis effectively studies the potential and feasibility of the Hybrid Spacesuit concept.

520 $a En aquesta Tesis es presenta el concepte d'un Vestit Espacial Hibrid per permetre l'exploracio de superficies espacials que combina pressions mecaniques (MCP) i gasoses (GP). Aquest disseny conceptual te el potencial d'oferir un increment quantificable de la mobilitat, un increment de la seguretat gracies a les seves capes redundants, i un decrement del temps de desnitrogenacio del cos per respiracio (pre-breathe time) per tal de millorar de manera eficient la seva operativitat. A la Tesis es du a terme un estudi enginyeril del concepte. Primer, per a valorar la viabilitat i benefici d'implementar dos capes de pressio diferents en el vestit espacial, es du a terme un estudi comparatiu dels diferents elements que afecten el disseny per tal de crear un model matematic d'aquests. L'analisi es fa considerant el rendiment del sistema combinat de capes per diferents nivells de pressio total i de grau d'implicacio de cada capa del sistema (MCP-GP). Aleshores, la capa GP del Vestit Espacial Hibrid es avaluada tot provant els diferents nivells de destresa d'elements pressuritzats que no son utilitzats en aplicacions espacials. Per acabar, la Tesi procedeix a desenvolupar eines que puguin ajudar en el desenvolupament de guants espacials MCP de manera rellevant. La intencio d'aquests guants es que siguin utilitzats dins del Vestit Espacial Hibrid. Aquestes eines serveixen per establir un punt de sortida des d'on continuar iterant l'arquitectura global del concepte de Vestit Espacial Hibrid. Com a conclusio, es considera que la Tesi ha estat capac d'avaluar efectivament el potencial i viabilitat del concepte de Vestit Espacial Hibrid.
