As marketing to and recruitment of prospective colleges students is highly competitive in the higher education market, enrollment managers are constantly looking for an innovative ideas to increase new student yield for their institution. Given the highly competitive environment in higher education, the entire campus community including faculty must become more engaged in efforts to attract new students. With decreasing public funds and tighter budgets, senior leaders are more dependent on tuition revenue to meet fiscal obligations. With the rising cost of marketing and recruitment, are there other assets that enrollment managers can draw from? Knowing that faculty have a profound impact on students in school, can faculty members have a similar impact with prospective students? The research focus was to determine if faculty involvement in marketing to and recruitment of prospective students will bolster a higher yield of new students. The purpose of this study was to examine ways faculty involvement would augment enrollment efforts. In addition, an understanding of the level of support needed to encourage faculty to be involved in the marketing and recruitment efforts. Understanding that enrollment manager leaders are responsible for managing enrollment and faculty can influence students, could there be a blending of the two? The researcher conducted 11 one-on-one qualitative semi-structured interviews to speak with enrollment managers to discuss their experiences with using faculty. Using the interview approach, the researcher was able to examine re-occurring themes for analysis. The results determined that most enrollment managers are utilizing faculty for communication efforts to prospective students with a good level of success. In addition, enrollment managers cited that enlisting cabinet and other academic help was needed to encourage faculty to participate in enrollment efforts. The researcher has concluded that using faculty at key points with prospective students bears fruit. Enrollment managers should consider utilizing faculty in enrollment efforts if not presently. A recommendation for further research could be interviewing faculty and the ascertaining their feeling regarding any role they have played in the marketing to and recruitment of students.
