This study presents the importance and implementation of conversational engagement in the museum setting. Studying the French philosopher, Michel Foucault, This study examines the museum's relationship with society and its community. Inside this discussion is an analysis on the adoption and implementation of technology in the museum. Utilizing the American Alliance of Museums book Magnetic: The Art and Science of Engagement, the study discusses and analyzes the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia as a case study in engagement and the Gallery Host Program. Lastly, the study concludes with quotations from interviews with the Chrysler Museum of Art staff on the effectiveness and function of the Gallery Host Program and its engagement tactics.
