Latest workforce trends such as agile organization, knowledge work, flexible working arrangements, gig economy, working arrangements have changed to reflect the growing desire of employees to live and work away from their clients and employers. A growing segment of the population is embracing this lifestyle. These are digital nomads-those who travel the world and telecommute. This study seeks to understand, through a semi-structured interview process, who becomes a digital nomad, what shared lived experiences this group has in common, the benefits of this lifestyle, and how organizations can face the challenges of managing a virtual workforce. This research uncovered nine common themes through phenomenological qualitative analysis across seven individuals who participated in this study suggesting characteristics and experiences of digital nomads. Implications for employers are also explored based on the findings.
