This project lies at the intersection of mobile photos, personal stories, and the participatory audience. Individuals live and shape life stories through their everyday actions and experiences. In the age of the smartphone, these everyday experiences are captured in mobile photos and shared online through social media. This repository of online photos has become a characteristic of digital culture and the digital natives who participate in it. This project employs a critical cultural approach to examine the narratives told by digital natives about the ordinary moments they capture in mobile photos to determine what types of lives these selves are living and whether their narratives collapse or represent lives of purpose.
