This study aimed to identify traits and activities that characterize creative individuals who pursue and acquire the domain of songwriting in the music industry specific to Western popular music. The purpose was to present an empirical foundation for a habitus of songwriters. This mixed-methods research design consisted of three peer reviewed tests measuring personality traits, multiple intelligence levels, and creative aptitude. The objective was to determine commonality or differences in these categories in order to get an accurate description. Study findings indicated that songwriters share common traits and sociologically comprise a particular and peculiar group who represent an unofficial but undeniable entity. Qualitative questions were answered by a select forum to gain an accurate account of cultural and professional perspective.
